The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (“UCCS”) is committed to providing an educational, living, and working environment that is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive of all members of the University community. The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) provides that no qualified individual with a disability be denied access to or participation in services, programs, and activities at UCCS. This act applies to virtually all aspects of campus activities, including employment, student programming, and services provided to the community at large. UCCS Policy 300-021 Disability Access and Accommodation

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS or University) is committed to providing access,
support, and when appropriate, reasonable accommodations and academic adjustments to persons with disabilities. UCCS does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission and access to, and
treatment and employment in, its educational programs and activities. (Regent Law, Article 10).
Additionally, UCCS follows state building code ANSI 117.1 when designing and constructing new and
remodeled facilities.

Campus Recreation offers access to ADA accessible fitness equipment and provides a hearing loop system for individuals with hearing impairments who are interested in participating in fitness classes. The Wellness Center’s free cooking classes provide an opportunity for students of all abilities to learn how to cook healthy meal options. Faculty Resource Center - Faculty play a key role when it comes to providing access to our students with disabilities. Faculty must maintain the confidentiality of students with disabilities and allow private meetings to discuss letters of accommodations. Although it requires some forethought, all faculty members should strive to follow the principles of Universal Design of Instruction for the benefit of all students. https://frc.uccs.edu/teaching_resources/accessibility

Human Resources – The ADA Coordinator provides employee accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities, pregnancy accommodations, and ASL services, assists with access concerns, advises on event accessibility, and is a resource for all campus ADA questions or concerns.   https://hr.uccs.edu/current-employees/ada

Parking – There are numerous ADA accessible parking spaces located throughout campus.  These ADA accessible spaces require the display of a state-issued disabled license plate or placard.  In lots that also require “payment for parking,” the display of the state-issued disabled plate/placard AND payment for parking privileges is necessary.  To view locations of disabled parking on campus, please go to https://map.uccs.edu, click on “Landmarks” tab on right side of map, then click on the “Accessible Parking” box.  The UCCS map will show locations of disabled parking on the West Campus, Central Campus and East Campus. UCCS Parking Services also offers current students and employees special reserved “Z permit” spaces for those with temporary injuries or other temporary medical conditions that do not necessarily need ADA accessible parking. Residence Life and Housing offers ADA accommodations to students wishing to live in the residence halls or apartments. We have a variety of room types available and will work with you to provide what you need to live on campus. Please contact Disability Services and complete the forms and turn in the required documentation at this link https://www.uccs.edu/disability/housing-and-residential-accommodations. We provide accommodations for on-campus living, dining, assistance animals, and emotional support animals. Once the accommodation is approved, our office will be in touch.

Transportation – UCCS operates on-campus shuttles to help transport passengers from far parking lots to the main campus.  Shuttles are in operation Monday – Friday from 6:40 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. while classes are in session.  All campus shuttles have ADA accessible wheelchair lifts.  For more information about campus shuttle schedules, please go to https://pts.uccs.edu/transportation
